Vintage mid-century modern table lighter in blue art glass

This is a vintage mid-century modern table lighter with a decorative blue glass base and a chrome-plated lighter mechanism.

The base is made of heavy pressed art glass, often described as “ice glass” or “lava glass” due to its irregular, textured surface. The deep cobalt blue color and organic form are characteristic of European design from the 1960s–1970s.

The top section consists of a metal butane lighter insert with a classic flip-top ignition. These inserts were commonly mounted in decorative bases, making the object both functional and ornamental.

It was intended as a table or desk lighter, typically placed in living rooms, bars, or offices, reflecting the mid-century lifestyle where smoking accessories were integrated into interior design.

Pieces like this were often produced in Scandinavia, Italy, or West Germany, although many examples are unmarked.

Condition appears generally good based on the images, with intact glass and only light age-related wear to the metal.
