Description

A striking and elegant Chinese blue and white porcelain vase with lid, inspired by traditional “ginger jar” forms. This piece stands out with its deep cobalt-blue glaze, beautifully contrasted by finely hand-painted white floral branches, reminiscent of classic prunus (plum blossom) decoration—an important symbol of resilience and renewal in Chinese art.

This is a rare and highly decorative example, combining traditional Chinese aesthetics with a bold and timeless design. The rounded body and tall neck are topped with a decorative lid crowned by a stylized lion (often referred to as a “foo dog”), a traditional guardian figure symbolizing protection, strength, and good fortune. This sculptural detail adds both character and cultural depth to the piece.

Although unmarked on the base, the vase clearly reflects Chinese craftsmanship and artistic tradition, most likely dating to the 20th century. The smooth, glossy glaze and harmonious proportions give it a refined and elegant presence, making it a true statement piece in any interior.
